Live for the Future

Technology over the years has become essential for humans over a lifespan and has been ask whether it makes us smarter or dumber? From a light bulb to a cell phone, Technology is still a prerequisite in everyday life for a human being.  Technology has become a key aspect to life by enhancing the things we do every day such as communicate.  Some argue that technology ruined our society by making us lazy, and stupid.  Technology has taken the blame for the lack of intelligence produce by our society, which is not right. Technology has improve the humanity through many years and made who we are today. Such important things have come about the involvement of Technology such as medical discoveries, advanced way of teaching and learning, as well as efficiency.
Advancement of technology is a necessity for society because it can create new opportunities such as medical discoveries.  During times like the Civil War many soldiers have died due to lack of medical assistance and exposure to diseases.  Roughly 95,000 soldiers from both the Union army and Confederate died due to a disease called dysentery. As technology advances, it opens up opportunities to new discoveries that can change someone's life dramatically.
We as a society has benefited from technology by providing greater knowledge.  Technology allows educator to teach any topic of study in multiple ways, allowing the learner to gain interests in that topic thus, mastering that topic. In Callie Lauren Rojewski article, Does Technology Make Us Smarter? She states, “In so many ways, technology makes our life easier. Anything we want to know is at our fingertips” (Rojeweki 1). She makes a good point by saying people can search for anything in a matter of seconds allowing people to take in more information without losing interest.
Lastly, technology allow human beings to live more efficiently. Technology is being used throughout schools, work, and any other daily activities, not because it makes us lazy, but because it is more efficient.  With phones, tablets, and computer at your fingertips you have access to beneficial things such as communication. Also, users can search almost anything using these devices and can find the solution to problems in a matter of seconds. This does not bring a problem to our society, it simply brings a better way of life.
On the other hand, technology can be misused and therefore bring a negative impact on the lives of other. We as a society tend to rely on technology in our everyday lives, which to some, may not be the best idea. In an article As Technology Gets Better, Will Society Get Worse? By Tim Wu he talks about the Oji-Cree, and how they lacked in technology once upon a time. Oji-Cree later on states, “Since the arrival of new technologies, the population has suffered a massive increase in morbid obesity, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes (Wu 2).” Although technology brought negative results to the Oji-Cree, it is not the main reason. Technology is there to help you, and it is up to the user to make a change in their lifestyle.
